Wittenborg Capital offers corporate borrowers creative financing solutions through our extensive network of funding partners. We specialize in challenging or complex situations where financing can be difficult to obtain from more traditional funding sources and have a track record of delivering valuable and innovative results.
Headquartered in London the firm’s three working partners have together nigh on a century’s worth of relevant banking and industry experience. Wittenborg Capital started to work as a capital markets intermediary in 2010. WCL’s first projects were sourced in Denmark from clients well known to the partners through previous commercial engagements.
Client references were very positive and led to new client introductions and a number of mandates were won. The initial successes in Denmark and UK brought further recommendations and led to diversification and WCL has since been engaged to work on projects in the greater Nordic region, Germany and the US. The partnership has expanded from its London base and now has opened offices in Copenhagen (2013) and New York (2014).
The enormous geographical distances between the offices have worked to strengthen WCL’s offering as the differing business cultures found in each of our centres encourages vigorous internal debates as to how to secure the best solution for each mandate.
Thomas has spent much of his banking career working in the fixed income markets and has held senior roles at Barclays Capital, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and Danske Bank.
After a break from the financial industry during which he co-founded one of Germany’s first specialty coffee chains he returned to London to work on a longevity investments product and some bespoke specialty funding vehicles before founding Wittenborg Capital.
Before moving to the UK Thomas trained with Arthur Andersen, Copenhagen.
Matt has over 30 years of experience in investment banking; specialising in credit markets, with a focus on high yield debt and emerging markets.
Prior to joining WCL Matt spent the previous 12 years working for Commerzbank AG serving in offices in the US, Brazil and UK, covering a multitude of investment bank disciplines.
He has served as CEO and board member at Commerzbank’s US broker-dealer unit Commerzbank Capital Markets Corp., headed the Emerging Markets Sales desk and managed the Brazilian investment banking subsidiary Dresdner Bank Brasil, S.A.
Simon worked with Thomas at Danske Bank in Scandinavian fixed income markets, covering both sovereign and mortgage bonds, in the early 90s before changing course and moving to the equity market.
In the 11 years preceding WCL Simon was a Director responsible for equity sales into the Nordic Region at Renaissance Capital. A role that also included responsibility, shared with the banking team, for originating and closing some significant fund raising successes, including a number of hybrid debt/equity structures.
