Our client, Kongeegen, acquired a significant site that had previously been home to Denmark’s Military Command Headquarters.
As the local Danish banks no longer prioritise development finance and the funding requirement wasn’t of the scale that we would normally propose to international lenders, DKK 200m (~€27m), we looked for an alternative lender.
After screening a number of potential funding sources WCL was able to put forward a competitive proposal from a domestic pension fund.
This turned out to be a milestone transaction for the institution as it was their first ever deal in the direct lending market.
